Presentation Title:

Management of radiculopathies through spinal manipulations

Abstract

Radiculopathies (consequence of an injury, compression or inflammation of a spinal nerve in any region that occurs with loss of muscle strength, paresthesias and pain) are an increasingly common case in physiotherapy consultations. Due to the lack of evidence in manual therapy, a systematic review was carried out that studies the usefulness of vertebral manipulations in this condition. The following databases were examined: Pubmed, Medline, Cochrane, Scopus and PEDro. The results obtained show that spinal manipulations are effective in reducing pain, reducing disability and improving range of motion (ROM). In addition, these changes are maintained in the short and medium term.
