Title: Ultrasound guided shoulder interventional therapies

Abstract

Shoulder pain is a common clinical encounter both in primary and secondary care settings. Shoulder complaints are divided into traumatic and atraumatic, and both can hold a significant challenge to the healthcare providers and organizations. Moreover, shoulder problems can result in long-term disastrous consequences for example, chronic regional pain disorder, long-term disability, long-haul absence from work, overall impact on mental and physical wellbeing of the affected person etc. Interventional procedures have been studies for many years and were found to be of significant benefit for a wide range of patients with shoulder complaints, particularly when they are utilised at the right time and in combination with other treatment modalities such as physiotherapy. They, undoubtedly, help to enhance ecovery and make the journey of patients’ rehabilitation more effective and less painful. In my oral presentation, I’d like to discuss various ultrasound guided interventions I preform on regular bases in my practice which are richly evidence-based and have been making a significant enhancement my patient’s recovery and rehabilitation. Example of these procedures are hydrodilatation for adhesive capsulitis, Barbotage for calcific tendinosis, Supra-scapular, and axillary nerve blocks, glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joints injections, and subacromial bursal injection etc.
